Planning Your Daily Routine

September 5, 2017 By Katie Minard

Routines and schedules help babies, toddlers, and young children learn self-control as well as create a safe environment for them to learn.  Consistent routines/schedules should provide comfort and safety to your children.  Staying on a similar schedule every day will help your children feel secure and be able to predict what will happen.  Children are constantly changing and dealing with changes throughout their family and environment.  If they are able to know ahead of time what types of things will be happening throughout their day, they can better adapt to the changes in their schedule.  Once a child feels safe in their environment, they are free to play, learn, and explore their big world around them.

Schedule for babies/toddlers/young kids:

7:00-Wake up

8:00- Breakfast and Get Dressed

9:00-10:00- Free Play

10:00- Snack Time

10:30-12:00- Learning Activities and Organized Play

12:00- Lunch

12:30-3:00- Nap or Rest Time

3:00-5:00- Outside/Free Play

5:30-6:30- Dinner

7:00-8:00 Baths and Reading Time

8:00-8:30- Bed Time

*Modify to best fit your family’s needs 🙂
