Babies
Babies need love, connection, and attention to thrive and grow strong. Cuddling and rocking your baby promotes a safe and healthy attachment between parent and baby. Making good eye contact and talking gently with your baby helps him/her to feel safe and loved. Responding to your baby’s cries promotes a strong and healthy attachment.
Toddlers
The best and easiest way to connect with your toddler is to play with him/her. Try to set aside 15 minutes to play with your toddler each day. You can make up silly songs and dances together. You can read books about animals and colors. Doing simple activities like this strengthens your bond with your toddlers and shows them you love them.
Preschool
If you have a child age 4-6, you probably notice they have a ton of questions. Make time every day to be available to answer questions your preschooler might have. If you don’t know the answer to a question, look it up together. Play fun games like chase and hide and seek.
Following your child’s lead allows them time for uninterrupted play (save your conversations for after their play-we don’t want to disrupt their learning process). Asking your preschoolers to tell you a story (real or imaginative) shows your children you value what they have to say.
Your kids want your time and focus. Anything you can do during your day to show your kids you care and that you want to spend time with them will nurture your relationship and promote a safe environment for them to grow and thrive.
